Within the last couple of years photography has advanced to an insane level and we find ourselves pushing for the latest and greatest camera bodies and lenses, but do we really need the latest gear and is it possible for a 17 year old camera to compete with more modern cameras of todays world?
First off, the 7D is an absolute beast and feels absolutely amazing in your hand! I´ve been lucky enough to own 2 different 7D bodies and after testing them in multiple scenarios and conditions with different lenses here is a list of the pros of this camera:
Built like a tank
Water and dust resistant
8 fps shooting
Respectable autofocus
Very good value for the money
My list of cons:
Poor dynamic range
Bad for low lighting
No dual card slot
Here are a couple sample pics taken with the Canon 7D…‍ ‍
So, do I recommend this camera to others? Absolutely! Especially if it’s your first camera and you don’t want to dish out tons of money then I see no reason not to go with it, even more so if you want to shoot wildlife. Now if you already have experience as a photographer and have a bigger budget I would have to recommend a better camera. ( The 90D or 5D mark iv) All in all this camera is a beast and is definitely on my list of favorite cameras!
